Shouguang city , named by the State Council, is the "hometown of Chinese vegetables", with the country's largest vegetable production and wholesale market, is the country's largest vegetable distribution center. Also consumpted a lot of fertilizer, such as water soluble fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, Seaweed fertilizer Algamas,  Amino fertilizer Amino 80 and other foliar fertilizer. 

By the end of 2022, the vegetable planting area of Shouguang facility is 600,000 acre, with about 107,000 people engaged in the production of vegetable greenhouses, an annual output of 4.5 million tons of vegetables, an annual trading volume of 9 million tons, an annual output value of 11 billion yuan, and an annual transaction volume of about 20 billion yuan. Shouguang vegetable industry was selected as the first batch of 50 advantageous characteristic industrial clusters in China

In 2006, Shouguang City and China Agricultural University cooperated to establish Shouguang Vegetable Research Institute, which opened the road of independent research and development and innovation of Shouguang vegetable seed industry. In 2018, the "National Vegetable Quality Standard Center" was established in Shouguang, which promoted the whole industry supply chain to be more standardized. Today, under the leadership of the center, 2,369 relevant standards of the vegetable industry chain have been integrated to form a vegetable standard database of 14 categories and 182 categories. 54 production technical regulations for 37 kinds of vegetables have been compiled, and the development of 16 national and industry standards and 110 local standards has been started. Two reports of "Research on the Standard System of Facility Vegetables" and "Feasibility Study on the Development of International Standards for Shouguang Vegetables" have been compiled, laying the foundation for the formulation of international standards.
With the support of standards, Shouguang has accelerated the transformation from technology output to standard mode output. At present, for 26 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country to provide an integrated solution to the problem of agricultural "non-standard production, non-standard circulation, non-standard sales", more than half of the new greenhouses in the country have "Shouguang element" crop seeds, scientific storage, and increase the mining and innovation of excellent vegetable germplasm resources.
